The Society
The Painted Fish Performing Arts Society formally incorporated in 2013 though the organization existed as a sole proprietorship (The Painted Fish Theatre Company - Marian Hamilton) from 2008 -2013. In 2013, it became clear that the company was being run as a non-profit organization by a group of dedicated volunteers under Marian's direction and the decision was made to formalize into a Society.
Mandate
The mandate of the Society is to produce plays and musicals that express good family values and offer positive messages of encouragement and hope. A secondary mandate is to offer the opportunity to explore music and theatre from the stage to persons of any age who exhibit talent but have no previous experience. Painted Fish has attracted an average of 30 member casts from age 5 - 75 years of different religions and races that have become communities of encouragement and friendship. We also encourage families to participate, one of the few theatrical organizations that have criteria for choosing programing that must have roles for both adults and children. (Where roles do not exist, i.e. Jesus Christ Superstar, the children become part of the chorus). Painted Fish also encourages composers to submit new works for consideration of production.
